Dr. Sherly Haristya


Co-founder and Executive Director

Dr. Sherly Haristya specializes in digital governance and technology ethics. Her work bridges global and national debates on internet governance, platform accountability, and emerging technology regulation, with a strong focus on equity and multistakeholder collaboration.

She has collaborated with organizations such as Freedom House, UNESCO, ARTICLE 19, and Keio University on projects addressing social media governance, AI ethics, and personal data protection in Southeast Asia. Her research has informed policy discussions on disinformation resilience, COVID-19 surveillance technologies, and Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Bill. She advises initiatives such as the Safer Internet Lab at CSIS Indonesia and the Open Government Partnership. She actively engages with policymakers, civil society, and the media to ensure technology governance serves the public interest and strengthens democratic values.

Dr. Abdul Rohman

Co-founder and Research Director

Dr. Abdul Rohman focuses on the intersections of communication, technology, and social change in Southeast Asia. His work critically examines how digital platforms and AI-driven systems influence civic engagement, public discourse, and social movements, with a strong emphasis on equity and inclusion.

He is the author of Conflict, Continuity, and Change in Social Movements in Southeast Asia (Routledge, 2023), which explores the role of digital media in mediating activism and social transformation. Abdul’s current research addresses digital inclusion for persons with disabilities in Southeast Asia, focusing on personal data governance, privacy awareness, and the adoption of AI-powered technologies. His scholarship also engages with issues of misinformation, platform governance, and the socio-technical impact of emerging technologies on marginalized communities. He collaborates with civil society organizations, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to advance inclusive technology governance and strengthen digital rights in the Global South.

Dr. Ushik Shrestha Khwakhali

Researcher

Dr. Ushik Shrestha Khwakhali is a leading researcher at the nexus of telecommunications, artificial intelligence and education.  His work integrates device to device communications, AI, IoT, and inclusive learning systems to promote equitable access to knowledge across Southeast Asia. 

He has published extensively on generative AI, machine learning, and ethical technology, and drives projects that embed AI solutions into teaching and learning for diverse communities.

Dr. Duy Dang-Pham

Researcher

Dr. Duy Dang-Pham is a leading scholar and practitioner in Management Information Systems (MIS), specializing in digital transformation, information security governance, and the strategic application of emerging technologies.

With over a decade of experience, he bridges academic research and real-world impact through his work on organizational network analysis (ONA) and people-centric digital strategies. As co-founder of NetIQ, Dr. Dang advises corporations and government agencies on uncovering hidden collaboration patterns and building resilient leadership networks for the digital age. His portfolio includes executive training programs and consulting projects that strengthen organizational capacity for technology-driven change.

Silmy Karim

Silmy Karim currently serves as the Vice Minister of Immigration and Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia. He previously held the role of Director General of Immigration (2023–2024), where he led significant reforms in immigration governance and digital service delivery. 

Professor Peng Hwa Ang

Professor Emeritus Peng Hwa Ang of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore is a leading scholar in Internet and digital governance, media law, and technology ethics. 

Benny Siga Butarbutar

Benny Siga Butarbutar is a senior communications strategist with more than 25 years of experience in journalism, corporate communications, and public relations. He currently serves as the 1st Deputy of the Government Communications Agency of the Republic of Indonesia.
